Barney S. Giza, passed away on June 2, 2005 in Goshen, N.Y. He was 71. Son of the late Frank and Helen Wisniewski Giza, he was born in Goshen on October 2, 1933. He married Nancy Williams 46 years ago. He served his country in the U.S. Army for more than 20 years and was a combat veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Barney was the co-owner and operator of The Triple J Inn, Goshen. He was a life-member of VFW Post #1708, Goshen, a member of American Legion Post #1250, Florida, N.Y. and a member of TREA. A family statement said: "Barney was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, reading, playing cards and socializing with friends. He had a great sense of humor and knew how to make people laugh. A soldier to the end, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him." He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy, at home; three loving sons: John and his wife Leigh of Centreville, Va., James and his wife Kerry of Sutton, Mass. and Joseph and his wife Susan of Wurtsboro, N.Y.; four grandchildren: David, Jennifer, Heather and Alexandra; one brother: Frank and his wife Josephine of New Hampton; two sisters: Hattie Pieczontka of Pine Island and Jane Shuback of Middletown; sister-in-law Jean Giza of Gibsonia, Pa.; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Myron, Stephen and Edward and sisters Blanche, Helen, Julia and Elizabeth. Family and friends may call Saturday and Sunday 7-9 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Scott Barker officiating. Interment will follow in Warwick Cemetery with military honors.
